Every Galvanize Full Stack Immersive Program concludes with a final capstone project. The entire time we’ve been in the program, we’ve heard about this project and how important it is for us. My emotions before we started were nervous/anxious, but also super excited.
Programming is all about problem solving. Every day I work with something I haven’t seen before. Learning is second nature by now. I’m so glad my mother taught me how to look up things in a dictionary. Looking up “things” is something I do all the time now.
I’ve been coding now for almost six months, and I love it! Something I learned very quickly was that debugging is an essential part of development.
Today, we started learning Java!
We started exploring the new features that rolled out in ES6. We’re using Babel, a JavaScript complier.
Before the holidays, we completed another project. This was a group project, and it was really cool to work with a team. We created Galvanize Ping Pong League (GPPL).
We are now learning server side development! I have a feeling things are going to get exciting now. We started talking about Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and pair-programming.
My first project!
This application is designed to engage middle school students in current news. They will be able to search for news stories by choosing their own search term. Stories are displayed with the newest items on the top. The publication date is also shown, so students can immediately see which stories were published today.
Wow. It has been a very BUSY last two weeks. Almost everyday, we learn an entirely new concept. I’m going to be using this blog to document what I am learning. It’s going to be a crazy ride for sure, but it’s starting to get exciting.
This is the end of week one in gSchool, and I’m learning so many new things. Every day, we are introduced to new content and then we immediately are asked to apply it.
